Artist
German soprano Rosalyn Stürzer (1995) is an expressive musician, complemented for her versatility and captivating stage presence. A graduate of The Royal Conservatoire The Hague in both Early Music Singing and Classical Singing, she is well-versed and performing in a broad variety of genres. With current engagements, she is diving into the creativity of interdisciplinary work.
Opera
Rosalyn Stürzer grew up on the opera stage, singing her very first role at the age of ten (“Cupid” in John Blow’s Venus and Adonis) at Kammeroper Wien. She later joined the children’s choir of Opera Leipzig where she sang in several productions, including La Bohème, Parsifal, Hänsel und Gretel, and Un ballo in maschera. During her time at Opera Leipzig she was selected to perform the solo roles of “Tanja als Mädchen” in Der schwarze Mönch by Philippe Hersant, and “Flora” in Benjamin Britten’s The Turn of the Screw.
In 2018, Rosalyn was cast as a lead in the contemporary opera La tragedia di Claudio M., which premiered in The Netherlands and Denmark. In 2023 she performed at the Opera Forward Festival Amsterdam, and this past summer she was invited to the Salzburger Festspiele to sing Bach’s Matthäus-Passion and Mozart’s Don Giovanni as a member of Utopia Choir, under direction of Teodor Currenzis.
Ensemble
An experienced ensemble singer, Rosalyn is part of several ensembles and choirs in Germany, Austria, Belgium, and The Netherlands. In 2020 she toured as a member of the European Hanseatic Ensemble, and has also sung in several productions with the Dutch Radio Choir. She has worked with conductors such as Peter Dijkstra, Benjamin Goodson, Jac van Steen, and Paul Agnew.
Rosalyn is a co-founder of the Early Music vocal ensemble Paradise Repaired, directed by Korneel Van Neste, with which she performed several times at the Early Music Festival Utrecht and MA Festival Bruges. Paradise Repaired was recently invited to join the Next Generation concert series of Bozar Brussels, and they are currently artists in residence at Vleeshuis Antwerpen.
Currently, Rosalyn is also part of the NKK NXT ensemble, where, together with seven other singers, she challenges the boundaries of singing and movement. NKK NXT will tour through The Netherlands in spring 2025 together with the theatre and dance ensemble NITE, performing their show Nachtwacht.
Dance
Rosalyn Stürzer is connected to the dance schools Hague Hoppers (The Hague) and Key Town Swing (Leiden), where she teaches Collegiate Shag: a fast and energetic partner dance, originating from the 1930s’ swing music era.
